Let me start firstly that to people who do not know me that
I have Complex PTSD, due to the fact that I was systematically severely bullied
from 11-16 and then sexually abused from age 12-16 and on top of this from a
young age living with undiagnosed Autism.
This is so you know who I am and why trust is not something
that comes easy to me, because of what I have been through, and yes I hear you
say but you have had therapy haven’t you, yes I answer which appears to have
been a complete waste of time, a waste of time why?
A waste of time because it was with a so called Psychologist
who is employed by Essex partnership University Trust a mental health who
appears to be qualified with dealing with people with complex PTSD and it turns
out after some research from myself that has not got a clue, and is taking the
PTSD approach, but is wrong with that, erm excuse me Complex PTSD is not the
same as PTSD, you should read my blog on that which is very informative.
Back to the main point of this blog etc, what I am getting
at hear is that we have a system of mental health services that are at the very
least shit and have no idea about the individuals wants ideas etc, because they
expect you to come up with a list of expectations at your first meeting, but
should this be part of the Multi-disciplinary Team approach to which you should
be included, but then you see this may happen in other trusts up and up down
the country but this doesn’t here. Then at the first meeting the shrink head
driller call them what you want should have your list of preconceived idea as
to what the hell you are talking about, but instead they treat you like you are
a blithering idiot.
You see the whole system is stacked against you and as for
coproduction they have no idea as to what your talking about, so this is a form
of mental torture within it’s self and perhaps gaslighting?
Unfortunately myself and a colleague from an organisation I
used to be part of have suffered at the hand of certain people who had a tendency to use a dreadful means of mental torture known as Gaslighting /gaslighted a form of
bullying against the individual who then twists your mental health condition to
make you seem like you can’t make sense of what is going on that your mental
health suffers due to a person’s inability to be able to not understand your
own needs.
This is not very nice to the point that whatever you say to
try and defend or make point that the individual makes your life hell to the
point that if you have cause to make complaint about her actions and behaviour
towards you and being in a positions of authority you in turn suffer at the
hands of her immediate boss that the ensuing complaint is turned back on you
and you are made to look like an idiot and a bully, also you later find out
that certain people use their mental health as a ranking exercise mainly they may have had depression and they use this against you, even though they may have had it hard, but i am not one too judge (erm yes well, shall we leave it there) when you do raise the point that you have complex PTSD and at this point they switch off and state that in no uncertain words that your mental illness can’t be as bad as you state it. I am not about to start a rankings war here but it is called complex because i have more than one trigger point so there.
It doesn’t bother me anymore as I am now a freelance individual
who can do what he likes and be more pirate and fight back!
I am fighting the system and bigots all the time now right
fro organisations that treat people with mental health issues as twits and
idiots or head cases. We are not we are people who are just wired differently
or have that lampshade moment. Yes we could make our trouble makers walk that
plank. Do you know it brings up the image of the sharks swimming around with a serviette
and knives and forks going yum. “Nice n tasty” and reality that fact is oh
yuck, imagine the sharks go oh it’s a culture think yuck it leaves a nasty
taste in the mouth and the shark is unwell and then coughs it up, the second
shark feels something very uncomfortable slide down inside and really a nasty
surprise for those poor sharks.
Being pirate is about challenging the system and not taking
any prisoners along the way, if you can help it, so I use my shared experiences
no matter how painful to bring about change out there in a world so much
against people who are seen as different who are not listened to.
